No masks and dolls

From 1996 to 2003  Master Kagita Gei'un taught me how to carve Noh theater masks, in hinoki wood and mother-of-pearl powder coatings which gives the masks a porcelain-like complexion.

Between 2003 and 2006, in Kyoto, Il learnt from Master Men'ya the modeling of Gosho

style dolls and Ichimatsu style articulated dolls.Wood carving, molding, paper mache techniques, coated

with mother-of-pearl powder, up to the sewing of miniature kimonos to finally dress them up!

Between 2003 and 2006, in Kyoto, Master Men'ya teaches me modeling of Gosho type dolls or articulated Ichimatsu dolls

I carve wood directly, mold, use paper mache, and mother-of-pearl coating. We even sew the kimonos to dress the dolls ourselves! That was a lot of fun to soak in such an artistic atmosphere!

First modeled in clay then molded and made in paper mache.
